A 20 year old woman is dead and the driver of the other car has been arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence causing death, aggravated driving under the influence causing great bodily harm, aggravated driving under the influence with no valid driver's license, driving under the influence, and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of more than .08 percent. Police report that Alysha Thurow-Gitzinger, of Woodstock, was driving in the southbound lane of Division Streetin Harvard when Hugo C. Dells III, 42, of Darien, Wis., who was driving in the northbound lane, swerved over the median strip and smashed into Thurow-Gitzinger car. The Northwest Herald reported that she was taken to Mercy Harvard Hospital where she was pronounced dead. A 20 year old female passenger in Thurow-Gitzinger's car was also rushed to the hospital and remains hospitalized. Dells had two female passengers in his vehicle, 35 and 39 years old. Both of those women were transferred to Centegra Hospital, where one of the women was later released. Dell was also charged with driving without insurance, driving without an expired registration, failure to notify the Secretary of State of an address change, and improper lane use. Dell remains in jail in lieu of bond. Police say they are continuing their investigation. One woman is dead; three others were injured, two remain hospitalized. The families of these women are also victims of this alleged drunk driver. If you or someone in your family has been a victim of an accident caused by a person driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you should consult with a DuPage County car accident attorney who has experience with car accident cases.
